Lern Stays began with a phone call.
A friend reached out in desperation. He had been placed in temporary accommodation by his insurance provider after a home emergency, but the property he was given was cold, damp, mouldy, and completely unfit for living. What made it worse was that he had young children with him. He told us he simply could not let them stay in a place like that.
He was not asking for luxury.
He was not asking for anything special.
He just wanted a safe, clean home that felt like his own.
At the time, one of our rental apartments had just become available as a tenant moved out. We offered it to him immediately. The relief on his face said everything. It was warm, comfortable, and most importantly, somewhere his children could feel safe.
During his stay, he kept reminding us,
“You should offer this to more people. No one should have to go through what we did.”
That moment opened our eyes.
We discovered that his experience was not rare, it was common. Too many families and professionals were being placed in unacceptable accommodation when they needed support the most. We realised we could do something about it.
Because our background had always been about creating quality homes, stepping into serviced accommodation felt like a natural extension of who we were and what we believed in.
And so, Lern Stays was born,
